"The Vancouver Canucks and Florida Panthers have completed a multi-player trade involving some big names on the eve of the NHL Draft.
The Panthers have confirmed that they acquired Todd Bertuzzi, Bryan Allen and Alexander Auld from the Canucks in exchange for Roberto Luongo and Lukas Krajicek and a 2006 sixth round pick."
"The Kings are once again pursuing Florida Panthers goaltender Roberto Luongo, a league source said Tuesday.
The Kings are believed to be discussing a multi-player package, with forwards Alexander Frolov and Dustin Brown and goaltender Mathieu Garon among the names being discussed. Dean Lombardi, the Kings' general manager, declined to comment.
Luongo, considered one of the NHL's top goaltenders, is a restricted free agent, but the Panthers have been unable to reach a multi-year agreement with him. General Manager Mike Keenan said the team would explore all options, the Miami Herald reported Tuesday.
The Kings attempted to land the All-Star goaltender before the trading deadline last season, but the Panthers balked at all deals. Now they may be forced to make a deal since Luongo will be an unrestricted free agent after next season. The Panthers have received calls from a handful of teams and interest is expected to increase at the NHL draft in Vancouver this weekend."
"Reports out of the Czech Republic say free agent Patrik Elias has hired lifelong best friend Martin Havlat's agent, Allan Walsh, to represent him. What does this mean for the Sens and Devils?
Well, according to the New York Post, it could mean one of the following:
1) that Elias would take less money to sign with the Senators
2) Ottawa would convince free-agent defensemen Zdeno Chara and Wade Redden to both take less to remain with the Sens than each would command independently on the open market if doing so would allow the team to add Elias
3) the Devils would sign Elias and then make a trade with the Sens for Havlat."

"Selanne signed a $3.75 million US, one-year contract on Tuesday to return to the Anaheim Mighty Ducks, a team he says is ready to contend for a Stanley Cup. The deal also includes some bonus clauses."
"Contrary to reports out of Ottawa likely placed to increase Zdeno Chara’s bargaining power, the Rangers have no intention whatsoever of offering the mammoth defenseman a number even close to $8 million per season when the free agent market opens July 1, Slap Shots has learned.
The Rangers will check on Chara - if he’ll take $5.5 million, he’s in - but they now are believed poised to pursue a free-agent Plan B."
"The fifth hot rumour is out of Dallas. The Stars are said to be shopping goalie Marty Turco and have already talked to Vancouver, Toronto and the Tampa Bay Lightning. Trouble is, Turco had another playoff meltdown this spring and has three years left at $3.16-million per."
