The five times World Speedway Champion Tony Rickardsson is set to make his debut for the Husqvarna Hammers on Good Friday afternoon at Ipswich.
Rickardsson, who has joined the Hammers as a temporary replacement for their injured No.1 Mark Loram, will fly into the Country from his native Sweden to race in the Elite League encounter at the Foxhall Stadium - a venue where he made his British debut for the Witches back in 1991. He spent almost six seasons with the Suffolk club and his appearance on Friday in Arena colours is likely to create a lot of interest not only with the local Witches supporters but also with the travelling Hammers fans.
The Husqvarna Hammers will also include in their side two other riders who have ridden for the Witches in the past – Leigh Lanham and Paul Hurry. Add to that the 1992 World Champion Gary Havelock, Russian international Roman Povazhny, American Josh Larsen and experienced Pole Piotr Swist and they will be looking to improve on their 2004 performances at the Foxhall Stadium.
