Trevliga nyheter om Mario
Lemieux has skated pain-free five of the past six days, the lone exception coming Monday when President Bush's Labor Day visit to Neville Island kept him from using the Island Sports Center's facilities.
Yesterday marked Lemieux's longest and most productive session since returning to the ice two weeks ago. He skated for an hour and 15 minutes with Penguins teammates Kris Beech, Marc Bergevin and Eric Meloche, and he successfully maneuvered through pivots and turns for the first time. don't know how to put into words how happy we are with everything," personal trainer Jay Caufield said. "To see him getting stronger and stronger every day is just so encouraging. And to see how hungry he is ... you can tell he's hungry for more, no matter how much we've already done. Our job is to make sure we're careful and don't push it."

Lemieux, who also is performing daily off-ice stretching and strengthening exercises, plans to skate nearly every day leading up to the Sept. 12 start of training camp.
