Tolkar det som att om Pittsburgh genomför en buy out av något dyrt kontrakt nu (Granlund har det pratats om tidigare) mellan lördag och måndag så kan ni nog räkna med att Karlsson landar i Pittsburgh.

- Dubas wants Karlsson, and the future Hall of Fame defenseman has made it clear he no longer wishes to play in San Jose

- Two other teams with interest in Karlsson — the Hurricanes and Kraken — appear to have moved on given subsequent moves they have made

- The Penguins just re-signed Drew O’Connor before his arbitration hearing, triggering a buyout window between this coming Saturday and Monday

- The Penguins are currently in the neighborhood of $3.2 million over the salary cap after inking O’Connor

- Dubas has the authority to buy out the thoroughly disappointing Mikael Granlund, which would put the Penguins around $1 million under the cap

- When the Penguins had the framework of a deal for Karlsson in place more than one month ago, a third team was involved

- Jeff Petry, who almost certainly would be involved in a Karlsson deal, has a no-trade clause that prohibits him from being dealt to 15 teams
