Låt oss visa vad oraklen skriver i lokala tidningen Edmonton Journal:
Anders Nilsson takes over in net as Dallas Stars test Oilers with 52 shots
Dallas — He had faced shot after shot after shot. Fifty-two in total, in addition to another 35 attempts that the Dallas Stars racked up during their 4-2 win over the visiting Edmonton Oilers.
Still, Anders Nilsson was not about to deflect any responsibility.
“Unfortunately I wasn’t able to make the saves I needed to make today,” he said. “I let in a few easy goals and I wish I could have had them back. They have some very good players and some skills guys who can shoot the puck but I feel like I can play a better game than I did.”
At least Nilsson show up for the game, holding the Stars at bay until 17:46 of the first when Jason Spezza scored the first of three he’d put away.
“Anders made some tremendous saves. Obviously one or two of the goals he’d like to have back but I don’t know how you can be disappointed in his performance,” said head coach Todd McLellan.
With the Oilers struggling to find the win column and reluctant to let too much rust accumulate, McLellan had elected to turn the game over to Nilsson, in spite of the solid efforts of Cam Talbot against St. Louis and Nashville.
It was Nilsson’s first regular season game in the National Hockey League since April 13, 2014. Back then, he was with the New York Islanders and restricted to spot duty in between trips back and forth from the American Hockey League. He made 36 saves in that win over the Buffalo Sabres.
“You want to prove yourself and prove that you can play in this league. Prove that you can help the team to win games,” the six-foot-five, 229-pound Nilsson said, back after a year in the Kontinental Hockey League.
When faced with another season of shuffling back and forth between the NHL and AHL, he elected to spend last season with Ak Bars Kazan, registering a record of 20-9-8 and a 1.71 goals against average in the regular season and a 13-7 record with a 1.55 GAA in the post-season.
“I definitely feel like a better goalie now, compared to when I left North America,” he said. “I developed last year. I become a better goalie and also a better person. I was able to find a consistent level in my game and with that, I gained confidence, and with confidence you usually play better.”
